I qualified as a nurse in 1989 and then as a midwife in 1994. My career has led me from the privilege of facilitating birth to that of working in a hospice, specialising in palliative care. Having witnessed the wonders of modern medicine for many years, the ancient system of acupuncture drew me in with its alternative world view, offering a different perspective of illness and therefore its treatment. My knowledge of the Western medical system gives me a greater understanding of health and illness and enables me to work in partnership with conventional medical teams. Indeed, acupuncture can be used safely alongside other treatments you may be receiving.
I am a faculty member at The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, a major training institution for UK acupuncture students, where I teach on the Conventional Medical Sciences programme.
I have lived in Surrey for over 20 years and raised both my children here, enjoying the great outdoors that beautiful Epsom Downs has to offer.

Working with people has always been the most fulfilling part of my work. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine have allowed me to have a guiding influence on arguably the most important aspect of peoples’ lives – their health. Through my studies in both Western and Eastern medicine I bring a unique perspective on health and disease.
My early studies, a BSc (Hons) degree in Pharmacology with Physiology & Biochemistry, provided a sold understanding of the human body from a Western medical perspective. However, I soon realised I had a passion for working with people and wasn’t cut out for the life of laboratory work.
I’ve studied numerous martial arts for both fun and health. I’ve been involved teaching Tai Chi and Qi Gong at the Mei Quan Academy in London, at one point teaching Nigel Planner (Neil from the Young Ones) the Tai Chi Short Form. My experience around how to strengthen, relax, and heal the body through movement is something I bring into my clinical practice.
Following a successful career in technology I realised I needed to make a change – to find a career that was more worthwhile, continually challenging, and allowed me to give something back. That’s where acupuncture and Chinese Medicine came in.
I graduated from the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM) with a Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture (First-Class degree classification). I’m a member of the British Acupuncture Council and have completed further training in Tuina massage, moxibustion, and auricular (ear) acupuncture including the NADA protocol. I continue to deepen my knowledge with further continuous personal development (CPD) training.
Practicing acupuncture has given me the gift to make a difference to peoples’ lives in a much more profound way than I have ever been able to before. If you have any questions or would like to find out how acupuncture could help you please let me know.
